Xin Fu Yuen Methodist Church's Common Toilet.

During the visit to Xin Fu Yuen Kindergarten with Cr. Robert Lau Hui Yew on 23.04.2010 morning , I was told that the Church (Xin Fu Yuen Methodist) had recently renovated their Common use toilets and was quite nicely done. The Kindergarten is right next to the Church. Well, what's about having a look?

1. The Front Entrance

2. The Partition ( Aluminium Louvres) providing very good natural Ventilation.

2. Hand washing and Child Diapper areas (at Male Toilet's entrance.)

3. Diapper Cubicle at Female Toilet's Entrance
4. The Seating type of Toilet's bowl and with grab bars (people friendly)
5. Urinals for Males
6. The Squating type of toilet (People friendly too)
These toilets are quite clean & dry, mix & matching of painting is quite well done and most important of all, the concept of bringing or separation of washing areas from the main Toilet cubicles will keep the toilet dry which can be observed in this Toilet. A very good job done! Keep it up!.

Cr. Robert Lau Hui Yew (STC Chairperson) goes to Parliament.

Last Night, the radio station announced that Sibu Municipal Council's Councilor Mr. Lau Hui Yew (also,Sibu Toilet Council Chairperson) was the candidate for the Parliamentary by-election for area P 212 (MP Sibu) on SUPP Ticket. He is the cousin brother of the Late Datuk Robert Lau Hui Chew (MP for Sibu and deputy Federal minister of Transport, KL)

Today 13th April 2010, most of our local newspapers flashed the headline news of Cr. Robert Lau Hui Yew (a political "Star" in the making). He is quite a nice fellow ,very considerate and very passionate about clean toilets. Really hope that he will campaign for Clean Toilets in National Level like STC slogan, " Leading the Nation in Washroom hygiene"

Our best wishes to him and hope that he can continue the Legacy and Quest of the late Datuk Robert Lau Hui Chew for "Siburien".

Sekolah Menegah Tung Hua (Tung Hua Secondary School) 's proposal of one block of New Toilet for the Student.

It was on 29th March 2010 morning , I got a call from Cr. Robert Lau Hui Yew (STC chairman ) that the PTA of the School asked him to go to the school to inspect the toilets with the intention of proposing the construction of new toilets as the existing cluster toilets were old & the number is not sufficient to serve the population of the increasing student. We were brought around the school and the photo taken showed the location of the proposed toilets as well as the existing ones.

Cr. Robert Lau Hui Yew promised to sponsor for the technical drawing of the toilet and the proposed to be of Open concept with high roofing with lot of natural ventilation and hand washing facilities be separated. This will keep the floor dry at all time. The estimate cost or the proposed cost would be around 150K -200K (Malaysian Ringgit). The school will provide the space and looking for monies/fund would be the responsibilities of the PTA.
The Latest Update........ Sure Lucky fellas, the PTA managed to get 150K ringgit from the Federal Fund announced during the just concluded Parliamentary Election for SIBU. I think it was Cr. Robert Lau Hui Yew (the candidate for the Parliament Seat) helping them to get the fund.

(Photo from the Staronline: the Late YB Datuk Robert Lau Hui Chew)

The Late YB Datuk Robert Lau Hu Chew passed away today (9th April 2010) aged 68 years at his KL Residence at about 11.18 am (from the national news). Sadly missed but fondly remembered as the top campaigner for Clean Toilets in Malaysia. He was given a nickname as the "Malaysian Toilet King" by our beloved PM Dato Seri Najib Tun Razak for his involvement & contributions towards the Clean Toilets Campaign in Malaysia. He was the founder chairperson of Quality Restroom Association Malaysia (QRAM) and held the post for 3 terms.

We, the "Siburien" do really miss him very much as he was our MP and especially all the staff of Sibu Municipal Council, Sibu, Sarawak as he was the Mayor for a few years before moving to KL for the ministerial post. New toilets were built and old toilets were upgraded especially during his tenure as the deputy Federal Minister for Housing & Local Government, KL and not forgetting the 1st Malaysian Model Toilet for School was built in SIBU.
Farewell, the beloved late YB Datuk Robert Lau Hui Chew and keeping fingers crossed that there will be someone like you who will continue your legacy and Quest for Clean toilets in Malaysia.
Hope that the Toilets' stories does not end here when you are not around !
Our heartfelt Condolences to his family on their recent bereavement.

Public Toilets (with Special Features) in Sibu Municipal Council jurisdiction.

In Sibu Municipal Council's jurisdiction, there are quite a few specially designed public Toilets (with special features) and these Public toilets are found either in Sibu Central Business District (CBD) area or in outskirt areas in the community garden or parks which worth visiting or seeing. Let me be your tourist guide and come along visiting these specially designed Public Toilets (in Sibu) in this blog.

1. The Tunnel or Hidden Public Toilet at the 2nd Phase of Sibu Lake Garden
opposite Sibu General Hospital, Jalan Oya, Sibu.
This Public Toilet was the joint project between Sibu Municipal Council and the National
Landscape Department (or Lanskap Negara) some year back. This toilet was part of
the feature in the Water Feature Section of the Sibu Lake Garden . A well hidden public Toilet
with 2 cubicles for Female , 1 cubicle & two urinals for Male & a common area for the
washing Sinks and according to the Municipal Architect, En Abu , this is the embedded
Structure which the whole concrete structure of the toilet was covered with earth.
Well to me it's just like the Tunnel or under ground.
