Toilet at OTAGO Museum.

Miss Debbie Price from IS section of OTAGO University told me that one  toilet is worth seeing and it's close by at the Otago Museum and it's quite a small museum as compare to our national museum. Well, I  only interested in Toilet only.

A glance in the Museum's Toilet, well, it's very Clean and little bit of different is that the toilet seat was colorful and 2 posters were hanged right in front of the men's. ........

A.  A very colorful Toilet Seat Cover

B. Two (2) Posters in front of the Urinals.

C. Clearer View of the Poster.

D. Another View of the Poster.

E.  All the Facilities in the Toilet.

Well, no doubt it's very simple but it carry a message that toilet can be used as a place for dissemination of information, knowledge or for advertisement like using the posters.

A Small Toilet in the land of the Kiwi ( Dunedin, New Zealand.)

It had been quite a while since I last wrote on this blog. Got really disappointed cos' pictures taken in SM Tung Hua, SK Abang Ali and SK Perbandaran Sibu No. 3's Toilets were lost because of the corrupted disk. Effort gone down the drain. A draft write up of these toilets had been done in this blog while waiting for the pictures. Had to take photos when back to Sibu.

Well, last two days while strolling in City of Dunedin, New Zealand and came across a small structured toilet (only two cubicles) and it's not only unisex but it's also for "OKU " or handicap one. It's free for use and self cleansing toilet as well as electronically operated. It was conveniently located in a car park next to a hyper market..NEW WORLD or CENTER CITY shopping  mall. Another special feature of this toilet is sight impaired or blind person friendly and the message in the notice was also engraved in the blind language- Braille .

Both of the toilets were also installed with Sanitac (a disposal bins ) for the ladies. Well, "Grace" and "Shirley  were correct that most of the public toilets  in Dunedin is really Clean. Maybe due to the Mindset of the people here.

Oh Yes, looking at the Dunedin City Map revealed that only 13 such public toilets were installed within the City.

"Clean Toilet Seminar" in conjuction with World Toilet Day 19th November 2010

The 19th November is the World Toilet Day and this year (on this Day),Sibu Municipal Council/Sibu Toilet Council celebrated this day in a small scale, organizing "Clean Toilet Seminar " and as well as the  launching of Posters on the "Vandalism in Public Toilets"  &  "Care for the Next Users". There is a session of on-the-spot Cleaning of Toilet practical . Nearly missed this, there was also a small scale of exhibition of toiletries products by the Kimberly Clark agent. This round, most of the participants were from the Government Departments in this central region of the States, non governmental organizations, public toilets' operators from government & private sectors,  and some coffee shop operators. we are expecting the group from education department but unfortunately, it was the last day of the school term , guess, most probably, they were busy. The Guest of Honor is our Mayor, YB Chairman, Datuk Tiong Thai King.

The "Clean Toilet Seminar" consists of the introduction of Sibu Toilet Council, some Toilet facts, most important of all, the Cleaning process, care of Toilets and the practical session on the on the spot cleaning which included use of cleaning solutions in one of our public toilet at Sibu Town Square.

On the posters, we don't have our own posters until this launching and now, we had 9 posters on the public toilets and its educational messages. This is our first try!

The practical session of on-the-spot cleaning was conducted by one of the Sibu Cleaning Contract Specialist and he had been in Sibu for quite numbers of years doing the cleaning contracts with private as well as the government sectors. Use of cleaning solutions and personal cares were his topic for that day.

The feedback from the participants were that they were very eager to get hold of our soft copy of our talks and they said that they are going to do themselves. Well, our talks' modial was not created for this seminar but it's our observations & experiences gathered from various places and our own practices. It's for sharing.

Thanks also goes to the Feudal  Ministry of Local Government and Housing, KL  for the provision of funds and support from our state Ministry of  Environment and Public Health,Kuching for organizing this Seminar.

Interesting Public Toilets from Down Under and Land of the Moari.

Hope that visitors from this part of the globe won't  be  surprised to see the Public Toilets of their own countries/areas posted in this blog. These toilets are like those in Malaysia but the different  is that these public Toilets were installed in Recreation Park areas (in a seclude corner) of Hyde Park, Sydney.

In Brisbane, capital of Australian state of Queensland, the Public Toilets in its China Town was found in one of the shop house lot which we seldom or don't see in my part of Town. A very good idea  of providing toilets' facilities in a crowded or no available space for construction of toilets.

In the land of the Maori, one Public Toilet in its Recreation Park of "One Tree Hill" areas, a Cornwall Park, Auckland, NZ found having built with the similar concept with our very own tunnel Toilet in Sibu Lake Garden Phase II. The  Cornwall Park's toilet structure was just like a small dungeon, with its entrance going into the ground and the best of all, this toilet had the facilities to harvest the rain water but only for the urinals.

1. Hyde Park in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.

Two (2) automatic Public toilets (like those found in the Street of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) but these two were found in seclude corner of the famous Hyde Park at the eastern side of Sydney Central Business District. Australian Fifty (50) cents per entry and the interior, it's more or less  like those auto toilets in our country (Malaysia).

2. Chinatown in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

Toilet facilities  in the Shop house lot and this could be the solution for providing Toilets' facilities in the crowded or no space for construction of Public Toilets.

3. Cornwall Park (One Tree Hill ) in Auckland, New Zealand.

A similar concept of Public Toilet with Sibu Lake Garden Phase, Permai and it's a bit better cos' of the rain water harvesting facilities. It could be called a "dungeon" Toilet.
